TROY, N.Y. – Junior Scott Winkler notched the eventual game-winning goal and added an assist to lead the third-ranked Colorado College men's hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Rensselaer, in non-conference action at the Houston Field House. With the win the Tigers improve to 4-0-0 overall, while the Engineers drop to 1-6-0 on the season.

Winkler (Asker, Norway) broke a 1-1 tie at 11:22 of the second period on a shot from the top of the left circle. The power-play goal, which was Winkler's first of the season, was assisted by sophomore Eamonn McDermott (Shaker Heights, OH) and freshman Ian Young (Missouri City, TX).

Junior Rylan Schwartz (Wilcox, SA) pushed the visitors lead to 3-1 with a shot from between the circles at 7:21 of the third period. Taking a feed from Winkler, he whipped a shot inside the left pipe for his sixth goal of the year. Sophomore Jaden Schwartz (Wilcox, SA) added an empty net tally at 18:25 of the third.

Colorado College sophomore Alexander Krushelnyski (Bloomfield Hills, MI) netted the game's first goal – a short-handed marker at 11:19 of the first period. After his initial shot was knocked behind the net by RPI freshman goaltender Scott Diebold (Buffalo, NY/Tri-City Storm), Krushelnyski flipped the puck off of Diebold's back and in, from below the goal line, for his first tally of the season.

Senior Alex Angers-Goulet (St. Augustin, PQ/Langley Chiefs) brought the Engineers even with a short-handed goal of his own, at 10:31 of the second stanza. Streaking into the Tigers' zone from the left, he riffled a slap-shot past Colorado College junior netminder Joe Howe (Plymouth, MN), short-side. The goal, which was Angers-Goulet's first of 2011-12, came unassisted.

Howe (4-0-0) made 20 saves to earn the win in net, while Diebold (0-2-0) finished with 23 stops at the other end of the ice.

The Engineers return to the ice next weekend when they visit North Country-rivals St. Lawrence and Clarkson on Friday (7pm) and Saturday (7pm), respectively. The Tigers visit the University of Omaha-Nebraska for a two-game series next weekend.
