WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Junior Margie Fulton scored a game-high four goals, including two key tallies in the second half, to give the Williams College women's lacrosse team a three-goal edge and a 9-6 victory over visiting Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Monday evening.  The #10 Ephs improve to 4-2 on the season, while the Engineers slip to 4-2 overall.

RPI opened the game's scoring less than two minutes in as sophomore Shannon Maguire scored off a feed from senior Stephanie Caouette.  Williams tallied to make it 1-all, but the Engineers answered back on a goal by Alissa Peterson for a 2-1 lead with 23:43 left in the game.

After a back-and-forth battle over the next 13 minutes, the Ephs took control with four straight goals for a 5-2 advantage heading into halftime.  Fulton led the way with two goals.

Rensselaer pulled the score to 5-3 to open the second half as graduate student Whitney Kukol got one past Ephs goalie Julia Schreiber at 27:33, but the home team continued to answer with goals of their own to keep things their favor.

Down by two with less than 20 minutes remaining, the Engineers found momentum as Kukol scored her second of the game and Peterson tallied on a free position to make it 7-6 with 14:17 to go.

Williams regained a two-goal advantage at the 7:21 mark and despite the Engineers persistence, the Ephs were able to seal the win with 46 seconds on the clock as Fulton scored her fourth.

In addition to Fulton, the Ephs saw Kaitlin Ellis notch two goals and two assists.  Taylor Fleishhacker had a goal and an assist, while two others also scored. Between the pipes, Schreiber had 15 saves.

For Rensselaer, Peterson led the way with three tallies, while Kukol had two goals and an assist.  In goal, sophomore Allie Arnal had three stops.

Williams is back on the field on Wednesday when it travels to Schenectady for a 4:30pm game at Union.  The Engineers return to action on Friday and Saturday against Skidmore (4pm) and Union (2pm), respectively, at Renwyck Field.
