Men's Tennis Volleys Past The Saints

Engineers post a 6-3 victory on the road at St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. – Powered by several hard-fought victories in singles action, the Rensselaer men's tennis team posted a 6-3 victory at St. Lawrence in Liberty League action on Sunday.  The Engineers improve to 7-6 on the season, while the Saints slip to 1-13 overall.
 
Sophomore Jarrett Regier (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) and rookie Brandon Mazzara (Orange, CA/Villa Park) each picked up victories in the first (6-1, 6-3) and second (6-2, 6-3) flights, respectively.  The pair also combined for an 8-3 win at first doubles.
 
Freshman Will Dickie (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough Regional) had a hard-earned win in third flight singles, battling to a 6-7 (5), 6-3, (10-6) victory.  He also combined with sophomore Andre Vorbrodt (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) for the squad's other doubles victory – an 8-5 win at the third flight. Vorbrodt also claimed victory at fourth singles, posting a 6-0, 6-2 win over SLU's Matt Burke.

The Engineers return to action on Wednesday in a 4pm match at Oneonta State.  RPI will play its final home match of the season on Saturday against Hobart at Sharp Courts (1pm).
