SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Led by victories in five of six singles matches and a solid effort in doubles, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team defeated Liberty League-rival Union College, 7-2. It was the final conference match of the season for both squads. The Engineers improve to 8-8, while the Dutchmen slip to 4-6.
Sophomore
Jarrett Regier (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) championed the victory in the first singles flight, posting a straight sets victory. He also partnered with rookie
Brandon Mazzara (Orange, CA/Villa Park) to win by an 8-4 margin at first doubles. Mazzara was also victorious in his second flight singles match with a 6-2, 6-3 win.
Also seeing multiple success on the afternoon was sophomore
Andre Vorbrodt (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional), who posted a win at fourth singles and also teamed up with freshman
Will Dickie (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough Regional) for a win in the third doubles flight.
The Engineers also saw strong efforts from its fifth and sixth flight singles as seniors
Kyle Borton (Bolton, CT/Bolton) and
Andrew Snyder (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown Area) powered their way to 6-0, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-0 victories, respectively.

Rensselaer returns to action this weekend at the Liberty League Tournament, hosted by Hobart in Geneva, N.Y. The tournament gets underway on Saturday at 9am. Union will also be in action at this year's event, but will first face Hamilton on Thursday to wrap up its regular season.
