TROY, N.Y. - The Liberty League announced its year-end award winners in women's lacrosse and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Allie Arnal was the coaches' selection as the Defensive Performer of the Year.  She was also one of just two unanimous selections to the All-Liberty League First Team.  Additionally, head coach Leslie DeLano and her assistant Tee Ladouceur were honored as the conference's Coaching Staff of the Year.

A junior goaltender from Lakewood, N.Y., Arnal was named the Defensive Performer of the Year after starting all 15 games for the Engineers with a 14-1 record.  In addition to a Liberty League-best 7.53 goals against average, she also owns the best save percentage in the conference with a .537 percentage.  Arnal has made 107 saves this season over 852:02 minutes of action and is also second on the squad in ground balls with 28.

Arnal, who was a five-time Defensive Performer of the Week this season, ranks fourth among the conference's netminders in saves per game with an 8.27 average.  Among the national leaders, she is eighth in save percentage and 11th in GAA.

The former Phillips Exeter Academy standout is currently the program's single season record holder in wins, having surpassed Stefanie Maroney's mark of 13 (13-3) from the 1997 season.  Additionally, she is tied for all-time victories with Arianna Hood '10, as both have 24.

DeLano, who is in her 10th season at the helm, took home Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the first time in her career, guiding her squad to a 14-1 mark – which set the program record for wins in a season.  The Engineers boasted an 8-1 record among Liberty League opponents to capture the team's first-ever regular season conference title. Her squad leads the conference in goals against average (7.27) and save percentage (.542).

Additionally, DeLano and her staff, have seen the team produce the 10th-best scoring defense in the nation, allowing just 7.27 runs per game.  RPI is also sixth among Division III's best squads in winning percentage (.933).  Three players garnered seven weekly honors, while four were recipients of year-end recognition, including two First Team selections. Ten student-athletes were also named to the conference's All-Academic Team.

The Engineers (14-1; 8-1 LL), who are the top-seed, face fourth-seeded Union College – the only team to defeat Rensselaer during the regular season – on Friday at 2pm. The Dutchwomen are 7-2 in the league and 7-7 overall.

The second semifinal pits second-seeded Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) against third-seeded William Smith College. The Tigers are 7-2 in the Liberty League and 10-6 overall, while the Herons are 7-2 and 8-8.
