Box Score Box Score

HENNIKER, N.H.— Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute field hockey would net three second half goals en route to the 3-2 victory over New England College Sunday afternoon.

With the win the Engineers improve to 3-2 overall, while the loss drops the Pilgrims to 2-5 on the season.

NEC would open the scoring just 11 minutes into play as Jen Adams (Brimfield, Mass.) would rebound in her own shot, notching her third goal of the season.  The RPI offense would come alive out shooting NEC 18-10 on the opening half but NEC's keeper Courtney Duquette (Enfield, N.H.) would come up with nine saves and defender Jaclyn Papagni would come up with five defensive saves keeping the Engineers off the board.

RPI would break the scoring drought just over two minutes into the second half of play as Holly Dupuis (Brookfield, Mass.) would flip in a pass from Liana Viaggio (Mahopac, N.Y.) knotting the game at 1-1.  The Engineers would gain the lead just over a minute later as senior captain Alissa Peterson (Gaithersburg, Md.) would convert on a penalty stroke putting RPI up 2-1.

RPI would extend their lead to 3-1 in the 58th minute as Julia Wright (Bedford, N.H.) would record her second goal of the season putting in a pass from Sarah Krolus (Westminster, Md.)

The Pilgrims would get a goal back as Jen Adams would record her second unassisted goal of the afternoon in the 60th minute but it would not be enough as the Engineers would hold on for the 3-2 victory.

Picking up the win in goal for RPI was Katie Shea (Chevy Chase, Md.) who finished with nine saves. Having an impressive afternoon in net for NEC was Duquette who accumulated 33 saves.

New England College returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 19 when they host last season's North Atlantic Conference regular season champions Castleton State College. RPI will take the field on Friday, Sept. 12 when they host Kean University.
