LATHAM, N.Y. - Rensselaer posted a pair of close doubles victories before taking four singles matches on its way to defeating St. Lawrence, 6-3, in a men's tennis match at Tri-City Fitness. The Engineers improved to 8-2 on the season while the Saints fell to 6-3.
RPI took a 2-1 lead after earning two tight wins at one and three doubles.
Jarrett Regier and
Brandon Mazzara were victorious at first doubles, needing a tiebreak, 9-8 (5) and
Andre Vorbrodt and
Graham Harris won at third doubles, 9-7.
The Engineers won four of the six singles matches and the two that were lost came in third sets. Among the wins was freshman
Sherman Uyeno, who came back from being down a set and 1-4 in the second set. He won his match 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
