GENEVA, N.Y. - The Rensselaer men's tennis team defeated Hobart College, 9-0 in a match played on the indoor courts in Bristol Field House. The Engineers, who are ranked No. 19 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Region rankings, are now 15-3 overall. The win was the sixth straight without losing a match. The Statesmen, who are ranked No. 20 in the Northeast, are now 5-14.
Sophomore
Brandon Mazzara posted a gutty win at second doubles for RPI, going three sets in defeating Bruce Grant, 3-6, 6-4, 10-3.
"It was a solid effort across the board," said head coach
Jon Satkowski. "Brandon played a fantastic match at No. 2 for the sweep. We are playing well moving into the biggest part of the season."
It was the final match of the regular season for both schools. The Engineers and Statesmen will be back in action Saturday, April 27, when they take part in the 2013 Liberty League Tournament at Vassar College.
