ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The University of Rochester field hockey squad won its sixth straight game and improved to 3-0 in the Liberty League with a 5-2 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday afternoon.

The Yellowjackets (9-1, 3-0 Liberty League) got huge games from senior Lindsey Randall (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) and junior Megan Keil to earn the victory, avenging last years 2-1 loss to the Engineers in Troy. RPI drops to 0-3 in the Liberty League and 3-6 overall with the loss. For the game, Randall finished with a goal and three assists while Keil scored two goals in a game for only the second time in her career.

Keil got the scoring started at 9:05 when she slammed home a loose ball that sat in the goal mouth when teammate Katie Flaschner hit the goal post.  Less than a minute later, Randall got her sixth goal of the year when she fired in a shot from the left wing, beating RPI keeper Hannah Clough.

Junior Gina Cunningham made it 3-0 Rochester at 13:55 when she tapped in a rebound off a Randall penalty corner shot.

The Engineers would battle make towards the middle portion of the game, making the score 3-1 in the 20th minute when sophomore Allie Denny got her first goal of the season.  Her shot from the center of the circle just trickled past UR goalie Madison Wagner.

Early in the second half, Rensselaer would cut into the lead again, making the score 3-2 just 2:23 into the period. That goal was scored by senior Kelsey Porter who redirected a Jen Piselli shot from the point past UR backup keeper Tara Lamberti.

The Yellowjackets would then regain their composure after the goal, grabbing the final two scores of the contest.  Keil redirected another Randall shot off a penalty corner giving UR a 4-2 lead at 41:48.  Sophomore Michelle Relin made it 5-2 a few minutes later when her shot just had enough steam to get past a sprawling Clough.

In goal for Rochester, Wagner and Lamberti each made three saves and allowed one goal.  Clough made 13 saves for the Engineers.  Wagner improved her season record to 9-0 with the win.

Rochester continues its season on Tuesday when they travel to St. John Fisher at 6 pm.  RPI's next contest is next Saturday when they play host to St. Lawrence.
