THE KICKOFF
Rensselaer travels to the University of Rochester and looks to return to its winning ways after suffering a 24-10 loss to St. Lawrence in a Liberty League contest last Saturday. The Engineers, who are now 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the league, had won three straight games before the setback on Reunion & Homecoming Weekend.

THE ENGINEERS TO DATE
RPI began the season with a non-league game at Norwich, where it defeated the Cadets, 29-9 ... Week two was the home opener, which saw the Engineers suffer their only loss thus far this season, 34-31, to Alfred ... Following a 41-13 win at Castleton, Rensselaer began its Liberty League slate with a 27-6 victory over WPI in the Transit Trophy Game to improve to 3-1 ... The Engineers won their fourth game in five tries with a 45-14 win at USMMA on October 4.

THE YELLOWJACKETS TO DATE
The Yellowjackets (3-2; 1-2 Liberty League) broke a two-game losing streak with a 20-17 win at Merchant Marine on Saturday. U of R began the season with wins over Alfred State (35-21) and Galluadet (30-2) before suffering league losses to Springfield (63-27) and St. Lawrence (31-6). Like RPI, Rochester began the season with a road game and alternate between away and home games all season long. 

THE SERIES
RPI has faced Rochester on 72 occasions, trailing 28-40-4 (.417) in the series, which dates back to October 13, 1906 ... The first game was played in Rochester and it ended in a 0-0 tie ... In the first five games, RPI was shutout in four of them ... Eleven of the first 24 games showed no points for Rensselaer ... Rochester won 12 straight games from 1954 to 1965 and was 14-1 from 1951 to 1965 ... The Yellowjackets were 16-2 against their Upstate New York rivals from 1951 to 1987 ... From 1993 to 2005, Rensselaer posted a 10-1 record with two five-game winning streaks ... RPI has won four of the last six meetings and are 9-4 in the last 13 ...
