How Has Rensselaer Changed Your World?SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team came off a two-week break to face Bryant University and the Engineers knocked off the Bulldogs in a dual match, 5-2. It was the first dual match of the season for the Engineers, who are now 1-0.
RPI opened the match by winning the doubles point, capturing each of the three matches. The No. 1 team of
McKinley Grimes and
Brandon Mazzara won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, while the second doubles tandem of
Tristan Wise and
Sherman Uyeno needed a third set tie-break to win, 1-6, 6-3, 10-8.
Graham Harris and Al Grullon Gonzalez earned the win at No. 3 doubles, 6-1, 6-5 (3).
In singles, Rensselaer saw Grimes, Wise, Uyeno and
Anthony Kim triumph, which was enough for the team victory. Three matches went three sets with the Engineers taking two of them.
The match with the Bulldogs concludes the fall portion of RPI's season.
