THE KICKOFF
Saturday's game against St. Lawrence is the 1000th in the history of Rensselaer Football, which began play on October 23, 1886, and it is Reunion & Homecoming Weekend on campus ... The Engineers have an all-time record of 416-540-44.

RPI (4-1; 2-0 Liberty League) began the season with a non-league game at Norwich, where it defeated the Cadets, 29-9 ... Week two was the home opener, which saw the Engineers suffer their only loss thus far this season, 34-31, to Alfred ... Following a 41-13 win at Castleton, Rensselaer began its Liberty League slate with a 27-6 victory over WPI in the Transit Trophy Game to improve to 3-1 ... The Engineers won their fourth game in five tries with a 45-14 win at USMMA last Saturday.

The Saints (4-1; 2-0 Liberty League) have won three straight games following a Week 2 10-7 loss to Norwich ... Their wins have been over Coast Guard in Week 1 (45-14), Morrisville State in Week 3 (31-14), Union in Week 4 (28-20) and at Rochester last week (31-6) ... This week's game is the third road contest for St. Lawrence.

THE SERIES
RPI plays the Saints for the 59th time in its history, dating back to October 14, 1916 ... RPI won the first ever meeting, 14-0 in Troy, but is 26-31-2 (.458) in the series history against St. Lawrence ... RPI's 59 games against SLU, their 26 wins and 31 losses are all also fifth most against any one opponent.

STRENGTH ON STRENGTH
The Engineers enter this weekend action ranked first in the Liberty League and second in the nation in interceptions with 11 ... St. Lawrence is first in the conference in passing offense, averaging 227.4 yards through the air per game.

AMONG NCAA LEADERS
RPI is ranked second in the entire nation in interceptions (11) and second in turnovers gained (17) ... Rensselaer is also in the top 20 in Division III in passing yards per completion (9th / 17.49) and fumbles recovered (20th / 6) ... Freshman Diego Cuitino is first in the country with three fumble recoveries, while senior Andrew Franks is third in field goals per game with 1.80 ... Franks is also 20th in punting (41.1 per attempt) and sophomore Ryan Buss is 16th in passes defended per game (1.8).

THE LAST TIME
The Engineers were last 4-1 in 2012 and went to 5-1 with a Week 6 victory ... RPI finished 5-4 that season, which was led by interim head coach Bob Bodor ... The 2008 team started with an 8-0 mark.
