Grace Tilton and
Ivy Muchuma both reached NCAA Meet standards in posting victories and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's indoor track & field team finished in second place in the Liberty League Championships held at St. Lawrence University. RPI finished with 126 points, which trailed the host Saints, who scored 240 points. RIT was third with 110 points and Union was fourth with 42 points.
St. Lawrence University senior Hannah Kinsey became the first athlete in Liberty League Indoor Track history to complete a career grand slam in two events as she won the 60 and 200 meters in record setting time, helping St. Lawrence to its fourth consecutive Liberty League team title at the Newell Field House.
Records fell in nine different events. Kinsey set the Liberty League and SLU record in winning the 60 in 7.98 seconds, the Liberty League and SLU record in the 200 with a win in 25.82 and anchored the winning SLU 4x200 relay, joining Divya Biswal, Carly Stine and Ketura Mason to win in 1:46.20, another championship meet record. She was named co-winner of the Track Athlete of the Meet Award, sharing with RPI record-setting middle distance runner Tilton, who won the mile in a meet and field house record 4:56.79 and won the 800 in a Liberty League record 2:17.39.
Biswal was named Liberty League Field Athlete of the Meet after sweeping the long and triple jumps and winning the 60 hurdles in record time. She won the triple jump with a 11.31 series, the long jump with a mark of 5.28 meters and the hurdles in a league record 9.30 seconds. Union's Noeme Bechu, second in the 200 and part of the second place 4x200 relay team, shared Rookie of the Meet honors with SLU's Lisa Grohn, who was second in the mile and ran on the winning SLU Distance Medley Relay Team.
SLU sophomore Marisa Turner set the Liberty League record in the high jump, winning at 1.66 meters and was also champion in the 400, Saint senior Caitlyn Boreyko won the pole vault with a record 3.30 meter vault and SLU senior Amy Cymerman set the record in the 3000 meters with a win in 10:13.99.
Other champions in the meet included SLU's Ariel Beccia with a 18:15.44 5000 meters, the Saint 4x400 relay team of Molly Lennon, Katherine Vincelette, Cassia Hameline and Turner, which won in 4:09.22; RPI's Muchuma with a 16.63 throw in the weight and the Saints Kristen Linder with a 11.73 meter throw in the shot.
