TROY, N.Y. - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes Ivy Muchuma and Grace Tilton have been chosen for weekly Liberty League awards in track & field. Muchuma was selected as the Women's co-Field Performer of the Week, while Tilton was tabbed as the Women's co-Track Performer of the Week.

Muchuma (Nashua, NH / Nashua North) earned National All-America in the weight throw at the 2014 NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships, finishing eighth with a throw of 16.93 meters. She had six attempts, three of which went over 16 meters. It was her second that earned her the first All-America honor of her career.

Muchuma was seeded ninth at nationals with a distance of 17.38 meters, which she had when defeating 40 other competitors during a meet at SUNY Brockport on February 8. It was one of four victories for the former Nashua North standout who threw the weight in six meets. Muchuma had two other throws of at least 17 meters - each in the last two weeks. She reached 17.34 meters at the New York State Collegiate Track Championship Meet and 17.18 meters at the ECAC Championships.

Tilton (Concord, NH / Concord) set a person record, a school record and a New York State Association record in the mile at the NCAA Championship Meet, finishing fourth in a time of 4:56.01 to earn National All-America. She ran the final lap in 33.8 to outpace the fifth place finisher by .68. This is the first National All-America for her.

She was the fourth seed in the 17-person mile field with a time of 4:53.89, which she established at the Liberty League Championship Meet in mid-February. Tilton had competed in eight races this semester, winning five of them, including the mile and the 800 meters (2:17.39) at the league meet, and finishing second in another. She set the school record in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:44.44 at Boston University in early February and also broke the New York State Meet mark in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:52.66 on March 1.
