HOBOKEN, N.J. – Senior
Jarrett Regier took home wins at second flight singles and first flight doubles to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team to a, 6-1, victory over 27th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology, this afternoon in non-conference play. With the win, the Engineers improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Ducks drop to 1-3.
Regier (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) won a hard fought singles match, 7-5, 1-6, 10-8, over sophomore Ben Foran (Whitefish Bay, WI/Whitefish Bay), before pairing with junior
Brandon Mazzara (Orange, CA/Villa Park) for a narrow 9-8 doubles victory over Foran and Stevens freshman Antonio Perich (San Francisco, CA/International).
Mazzara also won his singles match, taking his third flight bout with Ducks freshman Charles Drake (Hilton Head, SC/Hilton Head Christian Academy) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. The doubles partnership of sophomores
Sherman Uyeno (Brea, CA/Brea Olinda) and
Graham Harris (Reno, NV/Bedford) also earned a win the Engineers, topping freshmen Brett Derrington (Brenwood, TN/Ravenwood) and Michael Feldman (Alamo, CA/Monte Vista), 9-7.
The match was cut short due to time constraints.
