TROY, N.Y. – Thirteen different players recorded points as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team defeated Bard College, 18-5, in the Liberty League opener for both schools. With the win, the Engineers improve to 3-3 (1-0 Liberty), while the Raptors drop to 2-3 (0-1 Liberty).

Rensselaer scored the game's first six goals, including two by senior Marissa Page (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland). The Raptors ended the scoring run with a tally, just under 10 minutes in.

A 5-0 run by the visitors brought their advantage to 11-1, with 13:12 to play in the first half. Junior Erin Masucci (Windham, NH/Central Catholic), who scored earlier in the half – netted her second of the season during the stretch. Freshman Carly Kirchner (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) capped the scoring run with her first collegiate tally.

Two late first half goals from Bard made it 12-3 at the break.

The Engineers scored two goals – from junior Erin Riley (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) and senior Meg Colitz (East Greenwich, RI/LaSalle Academy) – to open up a 14-3 cushion, early in the second stanza.

After Bard's Stephanie LaMont (Skippack, PA/Germantown Academy) scored her third of the game and 17th of the season, Rensselaer ran off three straight goals to make it 17-4. Freshman Sophie Hager (Northport, NY/Northport) completed the hat trick with her third and fourth tallies of the year.

Junior goaltender Erin Amarello (Griswold, CT/St. Bernard School) did not make a save in picking the win for the Engineers. Winta Mehari (Stone Mountain, GA/Chamblee Charter) came away with seven saves for the Raptors.
