ROXBURY, Mass. - The men's distance medley relay team won and two Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men scored to help the Engineers to fourth place after the first day of the ECAC Championship Meet. The Rensselaer women had several competitors, though none scored on the first of the two-day competition being held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

The men's DMR of Benjamin Fazio, Zachary Vanderzee, Tyler Gumina and Bobby Parker nearly eclipsed the school record, finishing with a time of 10:15.84. They outpaced the second place team, from St. Lawrence, by nearly five seconds.

Also earning points for the Engineers was senior Zac Borrelli, who was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 15.51 meters, and classmate Sean Quinn, who finished the 5000 meters in 15:07.07, which was good enough for six points.

Ivy Muchuma was one of RPI's top women's performers, finishing 10th in the shot put with a distance of 11.60 meters.

The ECAC Championship concludes on Saturday.

On Thursday, senior Stephen Silber was fourth in the high jump at the Tufts Last Chance Meet with a height of 2.03 meters. Classmate Cheryl Tran also competed in the high jump, finishing seventh with 1.55 meters.
