ROXBURY, Mass. - Graduate student
Lydia Frangos set a new school record in the weight throw and three other Engineers scored on the second of two days at the ECAC Championship Indoor Track & Field Meet at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's team finished in 16th place, while the men were ninth. There were 62 schools in both the men's and women's competitions.
Frangos threw the weight a school record 17.47 meters and finished second in the event. Teammate
Ivy Muchuma, a senior, was third with a throw of 17.18 meters. In the men's weight throw, Zac Borrelli, also a senior, placed eighth with a throw of 16.54 meters.
On the track, senior
Grace Tilton scored for the Engineers by finishing fifth in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:15.18.
Amherst won the women's championship with 38 points, followed by MIT (36.50 points) and St. Lawrence (36). Rensselaer had 18 points. On the men's side, Bates had 47 points for the team title, followed by Widener (42) and Worcester St. (41). RPI had 24 points.
