TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Ryan Haggerty, who played through his junior season with the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team, has been selected to the CCM Hockey National All-America East Second Team, it has been announced. 

In 35 games this season, the Stamford, Conn., native led the team in goals with 28 and poinst with 43 points. Ten of his goals came on the power play and six were game-winning markers. He also had a game-tying goal. Haggerty, who led the team in goals, points, power play goals and game-winning goals, was also whistled for 13 penalties for 42 minutes.

Nationally he is second in Division I in goals per game (0.80), fifth in game-winning goals and power play goals and 15th in points per game (1.23).

In 21 ECAC Hockey contests, he had 24 points on 14 goals and 10 assists with four power play goals, two game-winners and a game-tying tally. He led the league in goals and ranked sixth in power play goals. He was seventh in points and 10th in both power play points (9) and game-winning goals.

An All-ECAC Hockey First Team honoree, he scored at least one goal in 19 games and had eight multiple-goal efforts. He opened the season with seven goals in his first four games, including a hat trick on October 19 and closed the campaign with four goals in three playoff games. He had at least one point in 26 of 35 contests, including 13 with more-than-one point. His game-high was three points, which he accomplished three times.

Haggerty, who has signed a free agent contract with the New York Rangers, was the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week twice (Oct. 22, Feb. 4) and its Player of the Month for October. He was a Hockey Coaches Association National Player of the Month Honorable Mention following the first monty of the season and he was nominated for the ECAC Hockey Player of the Month in November.

In 106 career games over his three seasons, the former U.S. National Developmental Team standout had 47 goals and 37 assists for 84 points. He was fourth on the team with 26 points on 12 goals and 14 assists in 36 games as a sophomore. As a freshman, he scored seven times, including four on the power play, with eight assists for 15 points in 35 games.

A business and management major and Dean's List student, Haggerty was an ECAC Hockey All-Academic honoree as a sophomore.
