Matt LaBarre and
McKinley Grimes both posted two wins, but it was not enough as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team was defeated by No. 8 Middlebury College, 6-3.
LaBarre and Grimes combined to win at No. 2 doubles, defeating the sixth-ranked doubles team in the region, Palmer Campbell and Brantner Jones, in a tiebreak (9-8(7). LaBarre, who is ranked 18th in the Northeast Region in singles, then knocked off 11th-ranked Alex Johnston in a super tiebreak, 6-2, 5-7, (10-7) at No. 1. Grimes won at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Zach Bruchmiller.
RPI is now 10-4, while the Panthers improve to 14-2.
