RPI Athletics on FacebookPOUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team won two doubles matches but could only manage victories in two singles contests and the Engineers lost to Vassar College, 5-4, in a battle of regionally-ranked teams. Eleventh-ranked RPI falls to 10-3, while the 17th-ranked Brewers are now 9-7.
After dropping No. 1 doubles, both of Rensselaer's No. 2 and No. 3 teams posted victories, both by 8-4 scores. Vassar bounced back, however, winning four of the first five singles (Nos. 6, 3, 1, 4) matches to finish to clinch the victory.
Sophomore
Sherman Uyeno posted two victories for the Engineers, winning at No. 3 doubles with
Graham Harris, 8-4, and at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
RPI travels to Geneva, N.Y., to face Hobart College next Saturday at 1pm.
