Tournament WebsiteTROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team is the second seed in this weekend's Liberty League Championship Tournament and faces seventh-seeded Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) on Friday at 2pm. There are eight schools in the three-day event, which takes place at RIT.
The winner between the Engineers, who are 11-4 and ranked 13th in the Northeast Region, and the Tigers, who are 3-10, advances to take on either third-seeded Vassar College or sixth-seeded Union College in the semifinals on Saturday at 2pm. The championship match is Sunday at 10am.
RPI and RIT have not faced each other this season. The last meeting between the two institutions was April 20, 2013, a 9-0 Engineers' win in Rochester.
Rensselaer has played five other league schools this year, going 4-1. It defeated St. Lawrence University (8-1), Skidmore College (5-4), Union (9-0) and Hobart College (8-1) and lost to Vassar (5-4). Skidmore, which defeated Vassar in the regular season, is the top seed in this weekend's event. The Thoroughbred are ranked sixth in the region, while the Brewers are 15th. St. Lawrence, the fifth-seed, is 20th in the Northeast Region.

McKinley Grimes (Bedford, NH / Bedford) are the No. 2 doubles tandem.
