RPI Athletics on FacebookGENEVA, N.Y. - Five singles players and both doubles teams won first round matches with the doubles team of
Tristan Wise and
Sherman Uyeno remaining after the first day of the ITA Championship held at Hobart College.
Wise and Uyeno face a team from the University of Rochester in the quarterfinals on Sunday. They won their first match, 8-5, over a team from Ithaca and then captured their next match, this one against a team from Vassar, 8-3. Wise won his first round singles match, 6-3, 6-2, over an opponent from The College of New Jersey.
Others who won in singles were
Stephen Baxter, who won in three sets,
McKinley Grimes,
Sundar Devakottai and
Brandon Mazzara. All those singles players were defeated in the second round, including Wise, who fell in three sets.
