ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Angela Cascio scored the gamewinner, while Celia D'Agostino recorded two assists, leading Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to a 3-1 win over Hartwick in non-conference field hockey action on Wednesday afternoon at Wright Stadium. With the win, the Engineers move to 1-1 on the young season, while the Hawks drop to 0-2.

After a scoreless first half, Hana Murphy (Westport, MA / Tilton School) got RPI on the board, taking an assist from D'Agostino (Saratoga Springs, NY / Saratoga Springs) at 47:13. Just under six minutes later, D'Agostino connected with Cascio (Wyndmoor, PA / Springside School) during a scramble in front of the goal, putting the Engineers on top, 2-0.

Hartwick responded on the next possession to cut the RPI lead back to one, as Mackenzie Bond tipped in an initial shot by Claudia Stone. The Engineers would seal up their victory with an insurance goal in the 67th minute, as Claire Cecilio (San Jose, CA / Archbishop Mitty) scored her first goal of the season, collecting a rebound and putting back the unassisted shot.

Rensselaer outshot the Hawks, 32-4, and held a 9-3 advantage in penalty corners. Freshman goalkeeper Hilary Fiorentino (West Deptford, NJ / Gloucester County Institute of Technology) played all 70 minutes in the cage for the Engineers, recording three saves, while Hartwick's Yanna Boggio recorded 20 saves for the Hawks.

The Engineers will return to action on Saturday, hosting Mount Holyoke in the home opener at Harkness Field, starting at 2 p.m.
