2014 Season Tickets InfoTHE KICKOFF
Rensselaer visits Norwich in the first game of 2014. The Engineers, under second-year head coach Ralph Insernia, are coming off a 5-5 campaign, which culminated in a 31-28 win over rival Union in the 64th Dutchman Shoes Trophy Game.
Norwich posted a 7-4 record in 2013, ending the season with a 28-27 loss to Springfield in the ECAC Division III North Atlantic Championship Bowl.
THE SERIES
This is the 14th all-time meeting between Rensselear and Norwich, with the Cadets holding a 7-3-3 advantage in the series. The programs met in 2013 in the season opener for the first time in 50 years, with the Engineers coming away with a 20-7 win.
SEASON OPENERS
In the last 20 years, RPI has posted a 17-2 record in season-opening games. The Engineers are currently riding a two-game winning streak in the first game of the season, with their last loss coming in 2011 to 17th-ranked Alfred. Prior to that loss, RPI had not dropped a season-opener since 1997.
