Jessica Sauve won two individual events and was the member of a winning relay team to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's swimming & diving team to a 126-116 win over Union on Friday evening at Alumni Gymnasium Pool. On the men's side,
Adam Kalish won the 100 butterfly and was second in the 50 freestyle, but the Engineer men fell to the Dutchmen, 139-104.
Sauve won the 200 freestyle in 1:59.96, and the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:23.26. She anchored the 200 medley relay team along with
Michaela Yamashita,
Siena Sara, and
Ellen Tomljanovic that was victorious in a time of 1:55.17. Twin sister
Danielle Sauve was also an individual winner, touching first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.61. Sara was second in that event, finishing in 1:12.67.
Shanny Lin was also a multiple winner for the Engineers, touching the wall in in the 200 IM in 2:12.88, and the 100 butterfly in 1:00.39.Â
Off the diving board,
Maggie Cullather won the 1-meter competition with a total score of 258.97, while teammate
Maddie Miller was the runner up in the event, scoring 246.21 points.
Kalish was the lone individual winner for the RPI men, as he touched first in the 100 butterfly in a time of 52.63. He finished second in the 50 free in 22.18. Kalish was was also a member of the victorious 200 free relay team, which finished in 1:28.91, along with
AJ Schick,
Spencer Marquardt, and
Andrew Klobucher.
Klobucher finished second in the 100 freestyle in 49.27.
Ben Anderson recorded two second place finishes, in the 500 freestyle (5:50.82) and the 1000 freestyle (10:38.84). Colin Lendhoff was second in the 100 backstroke (55.91), while
Brian Polo was the runner up in the 200 IM (2:04.10).
The Engineers will return to action on Saturday, as they host the 2015 Kumpf Invitational at Robison Pool, starting at 12 pm. RPI will welcome Clarkson, Cobleskill, Cortland State, Ithaca, Skidmore, and William Smith. Union will also hit the pool again on Saturday, as they host Middlebury in a dual meet.
