GLENDALE, Calif. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team began its Spring Break trip with a win over Occidental College, defeating the Tigers, 6-3. The Engineers improve to 6-2, while Oxy falls to 4-7.

Rensselaer opened play by sweeping the three doubles matches by scores of 8-2, 8-2 and 8-1. The Tigers battled back to earn victory in each of the top three singles flights, but RPI's bottom third all won, including a come-from-behind win by junior Alain Grullon Gonzalez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic / St. Michael's School) at No. 4. Senior Brandon Mazzara (Orange, CA / Villa Park) dropped a three-set match at No. 2.

The Engineers continue its California trip with a match Pacific University on Monday at 5pm (Pacific).
