SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) doubles team of
Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez and
Zack Ebenfeld, a pair of freshmen, competed in the first round of the prestigious ITA Oracle Cup, but the duo lost to junior David Omsky and sophomore Jonathan Jemison of Emory University, 7-6 (3), 6-1.
The two teams held serve throughout the first set before Omsky and Jemison jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second set.
Castillo-Sanchez and Ebenfeld face Johns Hopkins University seniors Mike Buxbaum and Emerson Walsh on Friday at 4pm (Eastern).
The Oracle Cup, formerly the ITA National Small College Championship, includes the winners of the singles and doubles at eight USTA/ITA regional championships. The Oracle Cup include selections from NCAA Division II, NAIA and junior/community colleges.
