Aiden Drover-Mattinen Receives Prestigious CSC Academic All-American Honors

AUSTIN, TX – Senior Aiden Drover-Mattinen of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team has been named to the 2024–25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® Third Team, announced Tuesday afternoon. The honor recognizes outstanding achievement in both athletic competition and academic performance at the NCAA Division III level.

Drover-Mattinen, a computer science major with a 3.81 GPA (and 4.0 mark this spring semester), concludes his time at RPI as a four-time NCAA singles qualifier, five-time All-American (four occasions in singles and once in doubles), making him one of the most accomplished players in program history.

Drover-Mattinen posted a 36-2 singles record in 2024-25, reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Singles Championship for the third consecutive year. He was also selected to compete in the national doubles draw with teammate Andy Zhu for the second straight season.

The senior helped guide the Engineers to four straight NCAA team tournament appearances during his tenure, all while excelling in one of RPI's most rigorous academic disciplines. This is the second time that Drover-Mattinen has earned Academic All-America accolades from College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), as he was also honored in 2022-23.

The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in athletics and academics. Nominees must maintain at least a 3.50 GPA, provide key contributions to their team's success, and be recognized for athletic excellence on the national stage.
