EWING, N.J. & EDGEWATER, N.J. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team began the 2016 portion of its schedule with matches in New Jersey and the Engineers dropped both, losing at The College of New Jersey, 5-4, and Stevens Institute of Technology, 7-2. The Engineers fall to 0-4 in dual matches in 2015-16.

Against the Lions of TCNJ, Rensselaer jumped out to a 2-1 lead in doubles with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 and increased the margin to three with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but the home team captured the final four singles matches for the win. 

RPI's McKinley Grimes was the lone multiple winner for the Engineers as he teamed with Sherman Uyeno to win at No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (7-5), before capturing first singles by a score of 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

In the match with the Ducks, Grimes again won at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 7-5, as did Stephen Baxter at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-2, but those were the only victories for Rensselaer.

RPI returns to the court on Sunday at league foe Skidmore College (1pm).
