HOBOKEN, N.J. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team participated in the Stevens Institute of Technology Doubles Tournament and a pair of Engineers teams posted three victories on the day, which included competition with the host Ducks as well as New York University and The College of New Jersey.
RPI's tandem of
Zack Ebenfeld and
Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez were perfect on the day with a 3-0 record, while
Xavier Oshinowo and Sundar Devakottai went 3-1.
Ebenfeld and Castillo-Sanchez defeated opponents from each of the other three schools with scores of 8-6 (NYU), 8-4 (Stevens) and 8-3 (TCNJ). After suffering a first round loss to foes from NYU, Oshinowo and Devakottai won their next three matches, 8-5 (Stevens), 8-3 (TCNJ) and 8-3 (TCNJ).
Rensselaer had two other doubles teams compete with
Tristan Wise and
Winston Yu being paired and
Stephen Baxter and
Alex Lee teaming up. Wise and Yu dropped their two matches, 8-6 (NYU) and 8-4 (Stevens), while Baxter and Lee fell in their only match, 8-3 to opponents from NYU.
The Engineers return to action on Friday at the ITA Regional Tournament at Hobart College.
