THE KICKOFF
The Engineers play their first Liberty League road game of 2016, traveling to Western New York to play the University of Rochester. Both teams began league play last week and both suffered losses. RPI was beaten at home by St. Lawrence, 20-14, while the Yellowjackets fell at Merchant Marine, 55-7. 

ALL-TIME SEASON SERIES
RPI has faced Rochester on 74 occasions, trailing 29-41-4 (.419) in the series, which dates back to October 13, 1906. RPI was shutout in four of the first five games - and 11 of the first 24 - including a 0-0 tie in the series opener, which was played in Rochester. The Yellowjackets won 12 straight games from 1954 to 1965 and was 14-1 from 1951 to 1965. The U of R was 16-2 against their Upstate New York rivals from 1951 to 1987, but things changed in the 1990s. From 1993 to 2005, Rensselaer posted a 10-1 record with two five-game winning streaks.

MOST RECENTLY
The Engineers are 5-5 in their last 10 games with Rochester, though four of those victories have come in the last six meetings. The point differential in that span is a total of 18 points (RPI - 243, Rochester - 225).

ALL-TIME AT ROCHESTER
RPI is 14-24-1 (.372) all-time on the road against Rochester, including 7-3 in the last 10 games at Fauver Stadium.

LEAGUE PLAY
Rensselaer is 14-6 in Liberty League action with the Yellowjackets.

IN THE RECORD BOOK
RPI's 74 games against Rochester are the third most against any one opponent. Rensselaer's 29 wins is second and its 41 losses are third.

ENGINEERS LAST WEEK
Junior quarterback Sean Richardson threw for 249 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 97 yards and another score to lead St. Lawrence to a 20-14 victory over Rensselaer. Richardson connected on 24 of 40 passes and an 11-yard touchdown. He was intercepted once and sacked twice. He had 19 carries with a three yard TD. For RPI, sophomore quarterback Eddie Trimpert was the top rusher, collecting 83 yards, including a two yard touchdown, on 15 carries. He also threw a 60 yard touchdown throw. Linebackers Oliver Kaija and Alexander Greenidge had 12 tackles apiece, while defensive back Ryan Buss had 10, including five solos, a tackle for a loss (9 yards), three pass breakups, a forced fumble and an interception.

ROCHESTER TO DATE
The Yellowjackets had a bye in week one and then opened with a 27-14 loss to Catholic. Rochester bounced back to beat Alfred State, 55-27, before losing at Merchant Marine (55-7).
