KICKOFF: The Engineers (6-2; 2-1 Liberty League) host their final regular season game as Rochester (2-5; 0-3 Liberty League) visits East Campus Stadium for a 12:05pm kickoff.

THE STANDINGS: RPI currently sits in third place in the Liberty League standings, trailing first place Union (3-0) and second place Ithaca (3-1) ... The Engineers will finish first and earn the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Playoffs if they win the remaining two games on their schedule ... Rochester is in sixth place in the conference.

REMAINING SCHEDULE: Rensselaer travels to Schenectady to play Union in the Dutchman Shoes Trophy Game in next week's finale ... With a win over Rochester and a Union victory at Ithaca, the Shoes Game will determine the conference champion ... A loss in either game eliminates the Engineers.

ALL-TIME SEASON SERIES: RPI has faced Rochester on 75 occasions, trailing 30-41-4 (.427) in the series, which dates back to October 13, 1906 ... RPI was shutout in four of the first five games - and 11 of the first 24 - including a 0-0 tie in the series opener, which was played in Rochester.

STREAKS: The Yellowjackets won 12 straight games from 1954 to 1965 and were 14-1 from 1951 to 1965 ... The U of R was 16-2 against Rensselaer from 1951 to 1987, but things changed in the 1990s ... From 1993 to 2005, Rensselaer posted a 10-1 record with two five-game winning streaks.

LEAGUE PLAY: Rensselaer is 15-6 in Liberty League action with the Yellowjackets.

IN THE RECORD BOOK: RPI's 75 games against Rochester are the third most against any one opponent ... Rensselaer's 30 wins is second and its 41 losses are third.

LAST SEASON: Rensselaer scored five touchdowns offensively and one defensively in a 51-13 victory over Rochester at Edwin Fauver Stadium ... The Engineers also got three field goals (30, 30, 23 yards) and six PATs from Christian Kapp ... A touchdown pass from Ed Trimpert to John Costello to end the first half may well have been the key play of the entire game ... Rochester climbed to within 13-6 on a touchdown with 35 seconds left in the second quarter ... The Engineers worked the ball to the home 34 yard line with seven seconds left before Trimpert found Costello crossing in the end zone and hit him with the pass as the horn sounded for a 20-6 lead ...

NEW MARKS: Rensselaer's 51 points last season was its highest point total ever against the Yellowjackets, dating back to 1906 ... RPI's total offense of 519 yards (456 rushing) ranks third in school history for a single game.

ENGINEERS LAST WEEK: George Marinopoulos found Marc Meislahn in the end zone from seven yards out with 17 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to give RPI a 21-17 victory at St. Lawrence ... Mike Tivinis had RPI's two other touchdowns, both on the ground ... The Engineers responded to a Saints touchdown with just 2:06 left with an 11-play, 71-yard drive, culminated with Marinopoulos threading a pass through three St. Lawrence defenders to Meislahn at the back of the end zone ... RPI held the Saints to 43 yards on the ground.

OFFENSIVE STANDOUT: In a 21-17 conference win at St. Lawrence, Mike Tivinis, a running back, rushed 15 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns - all season-highs - to earn Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week ... His first touchdown, a 31-yard run down the right side, tied the game just three plays after the Saints took the lead in the first quarter ... His second, a 4-yard run up the middle, came early in the second quarter and put RPI ahead, 14-7. Tivinis also caught two passes for 27 yards, both on the final drive late in the fourth quarter with RPI trailing 17-14 ... He had a 20-yard gain on a 1st-and-10 from the RPI 29 yard line and then a 7-yard reception on a 2nd-and-10 from the St. Lawrence 22-yard line.

He also intercepted a pass, had a pass breakup and registered a quarterback hurry ... Hoggards' interception, which he returned 18 yards, came at the RPI 40-yard line early in the second quarter ... The Engineers scored their second touchdown on the ensuing possession.

Late in the fourth quarter, beginning on his own 29-yard line, he completed 6 of 9 passes for 63 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown throw to the back of the end zone with 17 seconds remaining ... Marinopoulos also had an 8-yard run on a 3rd-and-3 to extend the drive.

ECAC HONOREES: Linebacker Jack Hoggard and quarterback George Marinopoulos were chosen as the Division III North Defensive and Rookie of the Week, respectively, after their performances at St. Lawrence.

COMMON OPPONENTS: RPI and Rochester have three common opponents in Alfred, Ithaca and St. Lawrence ... Rensselaer defeated all three (30-15 at Alfred, 27-14 vs. Ithaca, 21-17 at St. Lawrence) and the Yellowjackets lost to each team (45-7 at Alfred, 46-6 vs. Ithaca, 36-14 at St. Lawrence).
