ORLANDO, Fla. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) returned to the court following a 13-day break and the Engineers defeated Colby-Sawyer College, 8-1, in their first match of Spring Break. RPI improves to 3-0, while the Chargers drop to 2-5.
Rensselaer won each of the three doubles matches and then took the first four singles matches to jump out to a 7-0 lead. Colby-Sawyer won No. 6 singles in three sets, but
Suryansh Patel countered with a three-set win at No. 4 for the final margin.Â
Three from RPI - freshman
Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez,
Xavier Oshinowo and
Winston Yu - had two wins on the day, while five others had one victory apiece.
