SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Members of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team went 5-1 in the first round of singles and 4-1 in the second round on the first day of the ITA Regional Tournament hosted by Skidmore College.
Advancing to the quarterfinals for the Engineers was freshman
Clay Thompson, classmate
Brian Niguidula, sophomore
Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez and freshman
Andrew Imrie. Each went 2-0 on the day in singles competition.
In doubles, Castillo-Sanchez and Imrie went 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals. They face a tandem from Stevens Institute of Technology. Castillo-Sanchez, along with
Zack Ebenfeld, won the tournament a year ago.
Action continues on Sunday morning beginning at 9am.
