ORLANDO, Fla. - Sophomores
Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez and
Zack Ebenfeld and freshman
Brian Niguidula each earned wins in doubles and all three Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes went on to win in singles to lead the Engineers to a 7-2 win over Post University in a non-league match at the USTA National Campus. RPI improves to 4-1 and Post drops to 0-4.
Under ominous skies, Rensselaer won each of the three doubles matches before capturing four of the six singles. Castillo-Sanchez and
Andrew Imrie won 8-2 at No. 1, Ebenfield and
McKinley Grimes captured No. 2, 8-4, and Niguidula and
Tristan Wise took No. 3, 9-7.
Castillo-Sanchez then defeated Nikola Crvelin, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 with Niguidula coming back to beat Sam Urban at No. 3 (4-6, 6-2, 10-5) and Ebenfeld taking a 6-0, 6-1 decision.
