ORLANDO, Fla. - The doubles tandem of
McKinley Grimes and
Zack Ebenfeld won at No. 2 and then both individuals captured their singles matches as the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team defeated No. 39 Stevens Institute of Technology, 7-2, in a non-league match at Lake Cane Tennis Center. The win was the fifth in six decisions for the Engineers, while the Ducks fall to 1-5.
Grimes, a senior, and Ebenfeld, a sophomore, posted an 8-4 victory in doubles to help RPI break out to a 3-0 lead heading into singles. Playing No. 5, Grimes defeated Mark Kanevsky, 7-5, 6-4, while Ebenfeld beat Gabe Sifuentes at No. 6 by the same score.
Of the other four singles matches, three of them went to third sets with the Ducks winning two of the three.
