Griffin Chenard and sophomore
Trent Han both shot 72 to lead after the first day of the two-day Liberty League Fall Preview, which is being played at Shenendoah Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort. The duo has helped the Engineers to first place with a team score of +11, 299. New York University is second, three strokes back (+14, 302), with Rochester (+18, 306) in third.
After a double bogey on the first hole, Chenard had three straight birdies to get to 1-under. Another double was followed by a birdie, par, birdie and bogey as he went out in 36 (E). He then birdied the 10th hole and added two more for another 36 and an even round.
Han had seven pars on the front nine and five more on the back to finish his even round. He had three birdies, which came on 7, 10 and 17.
Junior
Ryan Quinn is tied for tenth overall with a +5, 77 and classmate
William Asai is five places back with a +6, 78.
Playing as an individual is freshman
Thomas Fraser, who is tied for sixth place with a round of 3-over, 75 that included three birdies on the back nine.
Action continues on Sunday morning with the first tee times at 11am.
