FIRST MEETING: Rensselaer and Grove City have never played in football ... Interestingly, this matchup comes a week after RPI played Union, a school it has faced a school-record 117 times.

IN POST-SEASON: Saturday is  the 19th time in the past 28 years the Engineers will play in the post-season and its 13th ECAC appearance ... RPI last played in an ECAC game in 2016 when it defeated Maritime 38-6 in the Scotty Whitelaw Bowl ... The Engineers are 10-2 all-time in ECAC contests.

SIXTH CONSECUTIVE: This is the sixth straight year Rensselaer has played in the post-season with NCAA Playoff games in 2017 and 2018 and ECAC Bowls in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

RPI's Second Team selections include offensive linemen Luke Kosciol and Thomas Olausen, linebacker John Sadak, defensive back Joey Gutowski and athlete Peter Lombardi ... Tabbed Honorable Mention were offensive lineman Rick Denboske, receivers Marc Meislahn and Vinnie McDonald, kicker Sanjay Krishnan and punter Zac Montrief.

MULTIPLE AWARDS: Amaechi Konkwo, a junior defensive lineman, and Zac Montrief, a junior punter, have been chosen All-Liberty League three times ... Konkwo has been First Team the past two years and Honorable Mention as a freshman ... Montrief was Honorable Mention this season and as a freshman and First Team in 2018 ... Senior linebacker John Sadak, a Second Team choice this year, was First Team as a junior ... Junior kicker Sanjay Krishnan was on the Second Team last season and Honorable Mention this year.

NO COMMON OPPONENTS: Not only do Rensselaer and Grove City have no common opponents, the Engineers have only faced any of the Wolverines' 2019 opponents once in its history ... RPI defeated Carnegie Mellon 11-0 on November 25, 1911 in Pittsburgh.

RENSSELAER IN NON-CONFERENCE: The Engineers were 3-1 in non-league games in 2019, having defeated Allegheny (52-14 on Sept. 7), Utica (35-33 on Sept. 21) and Anna Maria (38-0 on Sept. 28) but losing at WPI (6-3 on Sept. 14). 

ENGINEERS ON THE ROAD: Rensselaer has an 0-4 record away from Troy with losses at WPI (6-3 on Sept. 14), Hobart (41-27 on Oct. 12), St. Lawrence (35-21 on Oct. 26) and Union (33-0 on Nov. 16).

ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT: Six Rensselaer student-athletes were selected to the 2019 CoSIDA Football Academic All-District™ 3 Division III Team ... They are George Marinopoulos, Maliek Kelly, Joe Scaglione, Jakob Grant, Blake Battle and Marc Anderson ... They are all now on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot. 

RPI LAST WEEK: Ike Irabor scored three touchdowns to lead No. 14 Union to a 33-0 victory over Rensselaer in the Dutchman Shoes Trophy Game ... Irabor scored on runs from five yards and eight yards in the first quarter and 61 yards in the second quarter ... The Dutchmen scored another touchdown in the second quarter and one in the third ... Senior Marc Meislahn led the Engineers offense with seven receptions for 42 yards ... John Sadak, Austin Charles and Magnus Wamble each had seven tackles for RPI.

ENGINEERS IN WEEK 9: Rensselaer scored on each of its first three possessions for a 21-0 lead and the Engineers were never challenged as they defeated No. 17/19 Ithaca at East Campus Stadium ... Quarterback George Marinopoulos was 16 of 18 for 175 yards and three touchdowns ... Marc Meislahn had five receptions for 90 yards and two scores, while Vinnie McDonald finished with 40 yards and a touchdown on two catches ... Senior linebacker John Sadak led RPI's defense with eight stops (3 solo), while classmate Grant Tragni, also a linebacker, made seven (4 unassisted).

HOME COOKING: With its win over the Bombers, Rensselaer improved to 6-0 at East Campus Stadium this season ... The Engineers are 15-1 in their last 16 games in Troy over the past three years.

50 WINS AT RPI: Rensselaer's most recent victory was the 50th as head coach of the Engineers for Ralph Isernia ... He is now 50-26 through nearly seven seasons ... Rensselaer's all-time leader in coaching victories is Joe King, who retired with a 152-59-2 record ... King won his 50th game in his eighth season (50-22-2), though in one less game than Isernia.

ENGINEERS IN WEEK 8: Rensselaer rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns to defeat Buffalo State 28-26 ... Sophomore Peter Lombardi had a 48-yard touchdown to open the scoring and then added a 28-yard TD reception to put RPI ahead for good midway through the fourth quarter ... He finished with 57 rushing yards on two carries and 58 receiving yards on four receptions ... Senior Marc Meislahn (43 yards on 7 att.) added a 9-yard touchdown in the second quarter and sophomore Joe Scaglione (team-high 86 yards on 8 att.) scored from 40 yards away in the third ... George Marinopoulos completed 16 of 24 passes for 186 yards, including 14 yards on three catches by Meislahn ... Senior defensive back Andres Guisasola led the Engineers with eight tackles, including five unassisted and one for lost yards (1), while John Sadak made seven stops (3 unassisted) ... Francis Perry had six unassisted tackles.

RPI IN WEEK 7: Junior wide receiver Joseph Viscardo matched his own school record with four touchdown catches and sophomore quarterback Tyler Grochot threw five touchdown passes, one shy of the program record, to lead St. Lawrence to a 35-21 win over Rensselaer ... The Saints raced out to a 28-0 lead in the first half and scored early in the fourth quarter to build a 35-0 lead before the Engineers scored the final 21 points ... RPI quarterback George Marinopoulos threw three touchdown passes in the final 11 minutes with Joe Scaglione (16 yards), Peter Lombardi (22 yards) and Marc Meislahn (2 yards) scoring ... Marinopoulos was 29 for 47 for 286 yards with one interception ... Lombardi caught nine passes for 116 yards ... John Sadak had eight tackles and Joe Deptula and Antonio Rogliano both had two sacks.

RPI IN WEEK 6: Hobart led 14-7 at halftime and then scored on it first four possessions of the second half on its way to a 41-27 victory over Rensselaer ... George Marinopoulos completed 18 of 39 passes for 220 yards and a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns in defeat ... Junior wide receiver Vinnie McDonald caught a team-high six passes for a team-high 105 yards and a 12-yard TD ... Sophomore running back Dylan Burnett rushed for a game-high 50 yards and a 2-yard TD on 10 carries ... Defensive end Magnus Wamble led the Engineers with seven tackles, including two for lost yards ... Linebacker Grant Tragni had six tackles.

RPI IN WEEK 5: The Engineers scored 24 points in the second quarter and held Rochester off the scoreboard throughout on its way to a 38-0 victory at East Campus Stadium ... Rensselaer intercepted three passes and recovered two fumbles while holding the Yellowjackets to 131 yards of offense through three quarters and 210 in total.

RPI IN WEEK 4: George Marinopoulos threw three touchdown passes and the RPI defense got at least one tackle from 31 different student-athletes as the Engineers shut out Anna Maria College 38-0 in a non-league game at East Campus Stadium ... Rensselaer took control with 28 first quarter points, including a pair of touchdown passes from its junior quarterback.

RPI IN WEEK 3: Senior defensive back Joey Gutowski broke up the potential game-tying two-point conversion with 19 seconds left in the fourth quarter and RPI defeated Utica 35-33 in a night game at East Campus Stadium ... Trailing by eight points with 2:57 to play in regulation, the Pioneers gained possession on their own 33-yard line and connected on six completions, the last of which was a 1-yard scoring strike ... Gutowski batted away the two-point try and the Engineers recovered the onside kick to seal the win.

RPI IN WEEK 2: Junior Bryce Wade connected on two field goals, including the game-winner from 26 yards out with 3:52 left in regulation, to lift WPI to a 6-3 win over No. 19 RPI in the Transit Trophy Game ... After Wade put the hosts ahead, RPI drove to the WPI 35 but fumbled after a pass reception and the ball was recovered by WPI ... Wade also made a 25-yarder with 4:24 to go in the first quarter to put WPI up before junior Sanjay Krishnan nailed a 27-yard FG with 17 seconds left in the first quarter to tie the game.

RPI IN WEEK 1: Senior Marc Meislahn scored two 1-yard touchdowns and junior George Marinopoulos threw two touchdowns and ran for one as No. 19 Rensselaer defeated Allegheny 52-14 in a non-league game ... Meislahn helped RPI to leads of 7-0 and 38-7 ... He finished with seven yards rushing along with 46 receiving yards on three catches ... Of Rensselaer's 502 yards of total offense, 356 came through the air with Marinopoulos connecting for 276 yards and two scores (1 & 19 yards) on 23 of 35 passing ... He had a 1-yard rushing TD.
