SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Joey Harrigan shot a 3-under, 69 and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) senior sits in second place after the first day of the two-day Saratoga National Invitational hosted by Skidmore College. He is one stroke off the lead, which is held by Skidmore's Evan Forrest (-4, 68).

As a team, the Engineers are in fifth of nine schools after a combined 300. They are +12, five strokes behind the first place Thoroughbreds, four in back of second place Babson and with two of third place Middlebury. NYU is fourth at +11 and Hamilton is sixth at +17.

Harrigan shot four birdies on Saturday, doing so on Nos. 3, 6, 10 and 13. He also had 13 pars, including on closing holes 14-18. He was even on the par 3s and par 4s and -3 on the par 5s, which was best in the field. His four birdies were the third most and his 13 pars were fifth most.

Second on the team and tied for eighth overall is sophomore Matt Buckley, who shot a +2, 74. He managed birdies on the par-4 second, par-3 fifth and par-5 13th. He had 10 pars.

Freshman Jacob Lindsay tied for the lead on the par 4s, shooting a -1. Each of his three birdies came on par 4s, including his final two holes, the 385-yard 17th and the 412-yard 18th. He finished with 10 pars on the day.

Action concludes on Sunday with the first groups going off at 10:20am.
