TROY, N.Y. — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's golf program was represented on the Liberty League's postseason awards list, as freshman
Zydon Yuan earned Second Team All-Liberty League recognition, the conference announced today.
Yuan put together an impressive debut season for the Engineers, posting a 74.9 scoring average across 21 rounds while recording one top-three finish. Throughout the year, he routinely delivered RPI's low rounds and positioned himself near the top of tournament leaderboards with steady, round-by-round scoring. He frequently opened events with composed rounds in the low-to-mid 70s, then elevated his play as tournaments progressed, producing multiple even-par or under-par rounds, including a 1-under 70 and a 3-under 69.
A consistent birdie-maker, Yuan paired clean scorecards with timely scoring bursts, particularly on the par-5s, and showed a knack for strong closing rounds, highlighted by several final-day scores at or below par. His season culminated with a standout performance at the Liberty League Championship, where he was under par across the three-round event and secured third place at 4-under, punctuating the weekend with a final-round 69 and a late birdie run to close.
