Aiden Drover-Mattinen and senior
Abraham Yohannes are two of the four semifinalists in singles and Drover-Mattinen and
Andy Zhu remain alive in the doubles semifinals at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional, which concludes on Sunday.
The No. 1 seed, Drover-Mattinent advanced with wins of 6-3, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-0 in matches against foes from Rochester and Hobart, respectively. He faces Connor Griff of Hamilton in the semifinals.Â
Yohannes, who is seeded at No. 5-8, had a 6-2, 6-0 victory over an opponent from NYU before coming back to beat a rival from Skidmore in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 11-9. His semifinals opponent on Sunday is from New Jersey City.
Igor Visnevskij and
Andy Zhu also played in the Round of 16 but were defeated.Â
In doubles, Drover-Mattinen and Zhu dispatched a pair from Rochester 8-0 before winning their quarterfinals match 8-4 against a pair from Hamilton. In the same bracket, Visnevskij and
Max Safanov advanced with an 8-1 win over a duo from Ithaca but were beaten 8-1 in the quarters by a team from Hobart.
