PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Junior Morgan Lee was one of two Division III student-athletes to compete in the 5000 meters at the Penn Relays and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete ran a personal-best time of 17:02.67 in the 43-competitor event.
She eclipsed her previous PR of 17:05.36, which she established at Bucknell University on April 15, while finishing 36th overall. Lee was three seconds from a top-35 finish and nearly seven seconds ahead of the 37th place finisher, a runner from Cornell University (17:09.19). Sydney Seymour of the University of Tennessee won with a time of 15:36.00.

John Reed ran in the men's 5000 meters and crossed the finish line in 14:21.41 to place 40th of 66 competitors. It was his first outdoor 5k since running a 15:05.82 at the 2019 Penn Relays. One of eight Division III competitors, he was three seconds from a top-35 finish. Yaseen Abdalla of the University of Texas was the winner with a time of 13:47.05.
Reed's PR in the event, which he has now run three times in college, is 14:59.4, which he established in April of 2019 in a quad meet at Tufts University.
Matt Lecky, a junior for the Engineers, did not compete in the race.
