Andy Zhu remain in contention in both A Flight singles and doubles at the Middlebury Invitational while the tandem of
Bryce Burnham and
Jonathan McMillan remain alive in B Flight doubles.
Drover-Mattinen and Zhu combined to win their first round match 8-5 before posting an 8-3 victory in the second round. The top seeded team, they face the fourth-seeded team from Tufts on Sunday at 9am.
In the B Flight doubles, Burnham and McMillan had wins of 8-2 and 8-4 and advanced to also play a team from Tufts at 9am.
First round singles action for Drover-Mattinen included a three-set win in the first round, 6-2, 0-6, 11-9, while Zhu won 7-6 (6), 6-4. Drover-Mattinen, the top seed, then had a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win in the second round and Zhu won in three sets, 6-2, 5-7, 12-10. They both play on Sunday at 11am against opponents from Skidmore and Tufts, respectively.
