NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's track and field team began their indoor schedule on Saturday afternoon, as they took part in the TCNJ Winter Invitational held at the NYC Armory. The Engineers was represented in the field of competitors in sprints, jumps, and throws.
The top performance of the meet went to
Peter Cavanaugh, as the junior took first place in the Men's 400 meters with a time of 50.70.
Donovan Myrick was also strong with a seventh place finish in the Men's 300 meters with a time of 35.23 - topping the board out of six athletes in the event for the Engineers.
Cortez Garrett also came through with a pair of solid finishes, placing seventh in the Men's 60 meter hurdle prelims before placing ninth in the event with a time of 8.83.
In the field portion of things, the Engineers impressed in the pole vault as all three RPI competitors finished in the top eight, with
James Zeolla garnering second place to lead the trio on the scoreboard.
Yathin Vemula also performed well in the high jump, taking seventh place in the event.
The Engineers return to action this weekend on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Utica Holiday Classic.
