TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League has announced their year-end awards for women's lacrosse, as three members of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team have been honored. Seniors
Megan Shay and
Rylie Maready earned All-Conference First Team honors, while sophomore
Kat Cama was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
Shay earns her second selection to the league's first team, backing up her selection a year ago. On attack, Shay ranked second in the league in goals per game (3.38) as she scored a team-high 54 goals on the season.
She twice scored seven goals in a game (4/7 vs. Vassar and 4/12 vs. Skidmore) and scored at least five goals in a game six times – including RPI's Liberty League quarterfinal showdown at Union. She was held without a goal just twice this season, having scored multiple goals in all but one game she scored in. She eclipsed 100 career points earlier this season.
Maready earns a second selection as well, having been named as an All-Liberty League Honorable Mention last season. Maready was RPI's triple threat on offense, leading the team in overall points (61) with a team-leading 27 assists and second to Shay in goals with 34. However, Maready brought value as she set a new single-season record in draw controls (141), and stands as the program's all-time leader in the category.
Her top offensive game of the season came in a seven-point, 12 draw control effort in an 18-13 win at Clarkson in the season-finale. Her 3.81 points per game ranks fourth among all Liberty League qualifiers, while her 8.81 draw controls per game ranks second.
Cama earns her first All-League selection as a sophomore, playing and starting in all 15 games for the Engineers. On defense, she forced 10 caused turnovers, snagged five ground balls, and collected a draw control.
Cama had her best effort in 16-10 RPI win over Utica where she had a pair of caused turnovers. As a defender, she also drew only one yellow card on the season.
The Engineers finished the season with an 11-5 overall record and an 6-4 mark in Liberty League play. RPI advanced to the League's quarterfinal round as the league's No. 5 seed before being topped by the No. 4 seed Union in a tightly contested 12-11 loss in Schenectady.
