GREENSBORO, NC- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) golf team shot a 35-over-par 319 today in at the Cardinal by Pete Dye, which placed the Engineers 13th out of 21 teams and ahead or tied with two schools ranked top-40 nationally.
Co-Captain
Matt Buckley led the Engineers with a one-over par 72 on the tricky Pete Dye layout. He had birdies on holes 4 and 7 on the front side and made the turn at even par. He birdied the long par three sixteenth hole on the backside The second day 72 was top five among 108 players on day two.
Buckley finishes the fall season owning or sharing 24 of 38 RPI program scoring or academic records and with top-five performances in 10 other categories.
Co-Captain
Jacob Lindsay shot a nine over par 81 to place second for the Engineers. Lindsay's two-day total of 155 was good for a top-40 finish.
Ryan Komp and
Owen Himmer finished the scoring for RPI with matching scores of twelve-over par 83.
Anthony Chen carded a thirteen-over par 84.

Matt McGarvey commented on the team and individual efforts: "The Cardinal took no prisoners today. Several pin placements where difficult to access and the greens were quite slick. Hat's off to Matt for such a steady round"
The Engineers are now off until the spring season, which begins in April 2025. The Engineers finish the fall campaign ranked second in both the Liberty League and NCAA Region 2, just behind conference rival Rochester.
