RPI Men's Track & Field Wins Friday Night Under the Lights Meet

TROY, N.Y.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's track & field team took first place overall at the RPI Friday Night Under the Lights meet at Harkness Field.

The Engineers claimed victories in 10 different individual events on the night, with Cortez Garrett and Tristan Mangin leading the group with two first place finishes each.

Garrett swept the men's hurdling events, as he took first in the 110-meter (15.23 seconds) and 400-meter (54.64 seconds) hurdle distances. Mangin won the javelin (53.96 meters) and discus (43.77 meters).

Matthew Smalling crossed the line first in the 1500m (3:56.40), while Colin Goldschmidt was the winner of the 5000m (15:16.26).

RPI was victorious is four field events as well, as Colby Grove (hammer throw), Owen Haas (high jump), Moss Dengler (pole Vault), and Yathin Vemula (high jump) all earned wins.
