Box Score TROY, N.Y. - For the second time in three seasons, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team finished their regular season with a perfect 8-0 record in Liberty League play, completing the feat Saturday in a 7-2 victory over the Vassar College Brewers.
The Engineers began the day taking two of three doubles matches, with
Aiden Drover-Mattinen and
Andy Zhu leading the way at No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 victory.
Bryce Burnham and
Jonathan McMillan were also victorious at No. 3 doubles by an 8-5 final score.
Zhu and Tsubi Oskada set the tone in singles, going back-to-back at No. 2 and No. 3 singles with straight victories. Zhu didn't lose a point in a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Okada collected a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
RPI clinch the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Liberty League Championship, beginning on Friday at the Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca.
