WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) golf team shot a total score of 21-over par 305 today at Taconic, on a day when pins were tucked and scoring was difficult.
RPI sits in sixth place, only two shots out of a tie for second, out of nineteen teams.
Leading the way for the Engineers was Junior Anthony Chen who shot a career best 2-over par 73. Chen sits in fifth place individually out of 99 competitors. Co-Captain Jacob Lindsay was next with a 4-over par 75.
Matt Buckley shot seven-over 78 and Owen Himmer rounded out the scoring with an 8-over par 79. Alex Weller shot 11-over par 82.
RPI Head Coach Matt McGarvey said "The golf course was quite difficult today and did not yield many birdies. Excellent rounds by Chenny and Jacob."
The Engineers head back to Williamstown tomorrow for the second and final round of the William Invitational Tournament, beginning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
